A good 95% of teenagers get bored, and what happens when teens get bored? They create their own fun. For them to come up with something entertaining usually involves dangerous activities or something illegal. A judge from New Zealand, Judge XYZ called teenagers crybabies for for not acting like adults. He stated that teens aren't owed fun by their town nor parents. Judge XYZ is expecting teens to save the world, that teenagers owe the world their time and energy to stop poverty and and serious first world problems. It's difficult to do anything when you're being insulted and expected to do so much.
Some people might think insulting is good way to motivate, to push someone forward. This is not true for teenagers. To push a teen forward, you need to motivate them. Get them hyped up, throw them a pee-rally. Insulting can only do so much til you start to push a person down instead of forward. At this rate they'll start a riot. Imagine a riot of depressed kids.
Judge XYZ said "Your town does not owe you  recreational facilities...". The town should invest in recreational buildings. It wouldn't be a give and receive transaction, it's be a give and take investment. The town would provide a location for teenagers to group or to have something to do. The town is investing in its' teenagers, if they stay off the streets and are kept out of trouble, one day they could become someone of importance. They'll become responsible adults and can contribute to society. The town would literally be investing for the future.
If all the billionaires and millionaire in the world could get together and save the world from war, and solve the problems, I'm sure they would. Judge XYZ stated " You owe it [the world] your time, energy, and talent so that no one will be at war , in poverty, or sick and lonely again". If it were possible foe all the teens to get together, they still couldn't stomp out all the first world probelems. War, hate crimes, world hunger, poverty are things even adults can't terminate. How does Judge XYZ expect inexperienced teens to do the job that people with power can't do.
In conclusion, Judge XYZ doesn't have a complete picture f the average teenager. He's expecting too much of a group of people who are ignored in society. They cant do much, and the little they can are being shot down because of negligence

I agree with you there! I believe the judge is wrong. Teenagers are still kids, and adults have a responsibility to guide them and encourage them to make good choices. By leaving them to their own devices with nothing to do, this isn't guiding them! By providing healthy, safe, and fun things that teens and kids actually want to do, they can help keep kids busy and focused on positive things! What kind of recreational buildings do you think teenagers would enjoy?

Hey Nicki,

This is just me, but i think there should be a park with a skating rink. There is one near my house and a good 65% of my friends and classmates from school go there. They're not doing bad things, they're literally just hanging out, taking pictures, or skating. Also a YMCA never hurt anyone, the YMCA near my house started a leadership group activity to aid teens and help gain skills they'll need in their careers. A Boys and Girls Club would be a nice idea too, I don't know much about that organization, but I do know they have tutors/mentors that help kids and teens with things like homework and projects. So that's a pretty cool idea too.

Did you have any recreational building facilities in mind?
